Ron works as a Managing Director for PetroSkills O&M, the world’s leading training company for the upstream industry. Prior to joining PetroSkills in May of this year, Ron worked for Occidental Oil and Gas in multiple roles including technical talent, and engineering knowledge management. Ron has also worked in various supervisory, consulting and engineering positions with Altura Energy, Amoco and Mobil. He received a petroleum engineering degree from the University of Tulsa in 1977, where he currently serves as an adjunct faculty member.

Ron has been an active member of the Society of Petroleum Engineers since his days as a student member at Tulsa. He has held many positions at local and national levels, including chairman of the 11,000 member Gulf Coast Section. In 2003 he completed a three year term as the Gulf Coast North America Director of the SPE. He is an SPE Distinguished Member, and a recipient of both the SPE Outstanding Young Member Award and the SPE Distinguished Service Award.

Since 1993, Ron has been actively involved in the accreditation of engineering programs across the United States. In 2000, he held the position of Chairman of the Engineering Accreditation Commission of ABET, the first petroleum engineer in its history to do so. This 55-member body, made up of representatives from 21 professional engineering societies, oversees the accreditation process of over 1500 programs at 323 institutions. Ron currently serves as Secretary of the ABET board of directors.

Ron met his wife Jean at the University of Tulsa. Jean is also a petroleum engineer, having graduated from Tulsa in 1976. They live in Houston with their two children, Kristan and Kyle.
