Dean was born and reared in Illinois for the first 23 years of his life. He moved to Indiana to go to undergraduate school at Fort Wayne Bible College where he obtained a B.S. in 1980, majoring in Elementary Education and Bible. He graduated from Grace Seminary in 1983 with a Masters in Christian School Administration. He began teaching in 1980, and became an elementary principal in 1983. They moved to Atlanta, Georgia in 1986, for the position of Elementary Principal, which he held for 14 years. He became the Director of Facilities to oversee the building of two gymnasiums, a 90,000-sq. ft. high school facility, soccer field and baseball field at Providence Christian Academy. Before becoming the Head of School at Rosehill, he was the Director of Development for three years to a sister school of Providence, Loganville Christian Academy. He had input into its original conception and beginnings. With the Lord’s help they raised $635,000 in cash and pledges toward the construction of the 50,000- sq. ft. educational bldg. on 40 acres of property.
The definite highlight of his ministry has been to be on the front row of a new school, Providence Christian Academy in Atlanta, growing from initially 354 students in 1991, to 920 students in nine years. This is one of the goals that he has as Head of School at Rosehill Christian School. This year they started the year with 311 students, a 10% increase in enrollment over last year’s 278 students. He has hopes of increasing enrollment in the ensuing years so the school may be strengthened educationally and spiritually.
Rosehill Christian School is a non-denominational Christian School that has Pre-school 3 year olds through 12th grade. They have just matriculated their 7th year of graduates in 2006. Currently the school is unveiling a five-year strategic plan that includes community service initiatives, focused attention to developing academic offerings, and a renewed effort to attract more students to the campus.
