Speaker: Rev. Kay Johnson

Reverend Kay Johnson holds a BA from the Southwestern University in Georgetown, TX., a Master's Guidance and Counseling from the Texas Christian University, and a Masters of Divinity from SMU, Perkins School of Theology. She was ordained in the United Methodist Church in 1991 and served as an Associate in the First United Methodist in Ft. Worth, Texas. She has served in several churches in the Texas Annual Conference of the United Methodist Church: First United Methodist Church in Matagorda, Texas, Grace United Methodist Church in Manvel, Texas, and First United Methodist Church in Fulshear, Texas. She's been with the Rose Hill United Methodist Church since June, 2006.

She's had the opportunity to be on mission trips with Partners in Mission with the United Methodist Church to Russia, Africa, Bolivia, and Fiji. She's also had the opportunity to travel to China and Venezuela.

Kay will discuss her adventures traveling to Siberia 5 years ago to bring Bible School to Russian orphans. "It was an experience that I will never forget" states Kay. They flew to Moscow, went sightseeing then flew across 4 time zones to arrive in Tomsk, Siberia a city of 500,000 to be with a group of elementary age children for Bible school. What an awe inspiring and moving experience, unbelievable! Some twenty children were with 9 adults every day for a week, 4 hours a day. Recreation, crafts and Bible stories were among the many children's activities, while other team members worked with teenagers.

Kay is married to her husband Ron Marr, is the mother of three grown sons, and the grandmother of four grandsons and two granddaughters from ages 11 to 5 months. She enjoys walking, reading, and traveling.
