Proverbs 27:17 "Iron sharpeneth iron; so a man sharpeneth the countenance of his friend."

January 11, 2005 Luncheon

Guest Speaker: Jennifer Sands

Jennifer Sands has always enjoyed writing as a pastime, but in her first book, A Tempered Faith: Rediscovering Hope in the Ashes of Loss, she took on a project she never thought she would embark upon: Writing about the devastating loss of her husband, Jim Sands, in the attack on the World Trade Center on September 11, 2001. In this book, Jennifer gives the detailed account of her emotional and spiritual struggle and ultimate triumph in the first year after the tragedy.

“Back then, I never could have imagined that losing Jim would really not be the end of me… on the contrary, that it would be the beginning of a new life and a deeper relationship with Christ. And never could I have imagined that from this disaster, God would provide me with a writing and speaking ministry to glorify Him; but I believe this is proof of Romans 8:28, which says that 'God causes all things to work together for good… to those who love Him, and to those who are called according to His purpose.' Through our faith, trust, and obedience in God, He will enable us to overcome even the darkest struggles in our lives.”

Jennifer Sands was born in Point Pleasant, New Jersey on April 2, 1964. She attended Brick Memorial High School and graduated from Ocean County College with a degree in business. She then earned her pharmacy degree from Philadelphia College of Pharmacy in 1989 and is a member of Rho Chi Society, the National Honorary Pharmaceutical Organization. She currently resides in Brick, NJ, where she continues to work part-time as a pharmacist. However, the main focus of her work is now devoted to Christian writing and speaking on a local and national basis.
