April 8, 2008 Luncheon

Speaker: Andy Vickery
Topic: Justice at the Cathedral
Music by Wendy Brewer

Andy Vickery is a Christian layman, an active member of Christ Church Cathedral in the heart of downtown Houston, and a Justice Seeker. A graduate of Yale University (1969), the University of Georgia School of Law (1972), and Gerry Spence’s Trial Lawyer’s College in Dubois, Wyoming (2002), he devotes his normal professional life to representing the little people in society. Additional biographical information can be found on www.JusticeSeekers.com.

In January of 2006, Andy attended the annual vestry retreat of Christ Church Cathedral with his wife, Carol, who is a member of the Vestry and the Junior Warden of the church. The Cathedral was in the process of building a new 20,000 square foot outreach center just a few blocks from Minute Maid Park. The Dean challenged the vestry members and their spouses to consider how each of them might contribute to the mission of the church.

Andy and another lawyer said that they could spend some pro bono time representing the homeless. The rest, as they say, is history. Come to the Christian Business Luncheon in April to hear the story.
