Guest Speaker:  Paul Michna

Paul Michna’s background is in law enforcement, beginning his career in 1965 with the Houston Police Department as a civilian clerk in the jail division. Attaining the minimum age to become a police officer, Paul was accepted into Class #33 of the Houston Police Department. Upon graduating in 1966, he was assigned to the Patrol Bureau for the next four years during which time he received honors from the 100 Club of Houston for his investigative abilities and his high number of arrests of felony suspects.

In 1970, he was promoted to Detective and assigned to the Homicide Division, and later, at his request, to the Auto Theft Bureau. Beginning in 1977, he spent three years as a lieutenant on night shift Narcotics. Promoted to Captain in 1980, he was given command of the Juvenile Division, and in 1982 transferred to the Field Training Division until promoted to the rank of Deputy Chief of Police and named Chief of Detectives.

Having retired from the Houston Police Department, Chief Michna was appointed Police Chief of Tomball in 1992 until his retirement in 2002. Now retired from law enforcement, Paul was asked to become the pulpit minister for the Spring Creek Church of Christ, a newly organized church in the Tomball area. Chief Michna, as most people still refer to him, has been married to Delphine for 35 years and they have two children, Shelley Michna Rankin and Michael Michna, who just recently completed a 4 year enlistment with the United States Marine Corps.

Throughout his career, Paul has earned several awards and honors such as: The One Hundred Club Life-Time Achievement Award (1999), Police Chief Commendation with HPD (1986 and 1989), Tomball’s Citizen of the Year (2000), and was the Chairman of the Tomball Chamber of Commerce in 2002.
