Debbie Riddle | 7/08/25

Debbie (Deborah) Young Riddle is a native of Houston, Texas. In 2002 Debbie was encouraged to run for State Representative for District 150. She served in the Texas State House for over 14 years authoring major bills like “Jessica’s Law” and it was Debbie’s bill that put “One State Under God” in our Texas Pledge to our Texas State Flag. She chose Dan Patrick to carry that bill on the Senate side – it was later signed into law by Gov Rick Perry.

She and her husband, Mike Riddle, have been married 55 years and have 3 children and 14 grandchildren.  Their daughter Christine Riddle Butts is a Board-Certified Attorney in Estate Planning and Probate. Riddle & Butts Attys at Law – LLC is their law firm on Kuykendahl. Christine was also Harris County Probate Court #4 Judge for 8 years. Their son Michael Jr is a Medical Doctor specializing in regenerative medicine. David Riddle, their youngest son has a tremendously successful international horse breeding business.

Debbie was a realtor for 18 years – then became a “horse-show mom” for David – she drove a one ton duly diesel truck with a 4-horse trailer with living quarters all over the nation to a “million” horse shows! When the kids were younger Debbie was a firefighter for Ponderosa Volunteer Fire Department and the first woman to head up a hose crew. Later she became an EMT and volunteered for Cypress Creek EMSA.

Debbie has served on numerous Charitable boards and chaired many fundraising events – her two favorite dinners she chaired is when she brought Moses himself to town – yes – Charlton Heston!!  Debbie Reynolds was the feature at another one of Debbie’s events.

Today Debbie is still going strong and has established her own business of designer cookies and enjoys their home which is a horse farm. She and Mike have 2 next door neighbors – their daughter built a home on the front of the acreage and their son David and his family on the other side. Their eldest son lives up the road in Willis. 

Debbie and Mike love Israel and have been there 19 times. On their last trip to Israel they took almost their entire family. Debbie currently leads a ladies Bible study on “The Unknown Women in the Bible!”  Though Deborah in the Bible is not unknown – she is Debbie’s favorite!!
