Speaker: Joey Jamison
Joey worked as an electrician working his way up to master electrician. He worked most of his career with live energized systems, from utilities and vaults to commercial, industrial & residential service. Joey built an electrical service company operating from San Diego to Baltimore – JESCo (Jamison Electric Service Company) – housing more than 300 master electricians across the nation and an office staff of more than 50 personnel.
Joey still does electrical calls to past customers and maintains three licenses across the nation – Texas, Arizona & California. And yes, the drive time is very expensive to run that call in San Diego. Lol!!
This is what Joey Jamison did with all his dreams, ambitions and abilities. But, now what?
In 2019 he was in a vehicle accident that broke 5 different vertebrae. After more than 10 surgeries, he found himself broken, broke and with no retirement.
He was bedridden for over a year and wondered what else could he do. Then he got Covid – and got it bad. IV’s, oxygen, injections, breathing apparatus not to mention what was happening to him physically and emotionally. With God’s help he pulled through and in 17 months finished reading the bible from cover to cover…one chapter a day…every day.
Joey asked GOD “What do I do now?” The answer was to start by going to church to be with other like-minded ‘hungry for Christ’ people. This is where Joey saw his first angel. She was beautiful and singing with such a voice. Her name was Sandra & yes, he married that girl!
They now live in old Magnolia on 1.5 acres that had been unmanaged for more than 30 years. The septic system broke & he had to buy a tractor to clear a path to get to the problem. Then, another tractor to make repairs and a chainsaw for all the trees. This led to building a mill so that he could mill some cedars that he could not just throw away. Today, this has become Chosen Farm & Sawmill, the last working sawmill in Magnolia. Today, Joey loves working with wood and making things from wood – making crosses, turning bowls on the lathe or creating a unique table or shelf, working with resins and customer-provided items to create something just for them.

“What I have learned is; when you find Jesus in your life, you will know it because you start becoming a carpenter. We help those in need and live a simple life with nothing missing. Who knows who Joey Jamison will be tomorrow, but this is me today.”
