In the summer of 2019, Barry Hart found himself at a career crossroads. Serving as a commercial real estate consultant for investors on three separate development projects and experiencing the demise of all three projects due to lack of funding, Barry asked “What’s next?” Seeking God’s direction, Barry determined that the “next thing” would be a role that combined his business experience with his passion for Christian ministry. Five months into his search, a good friend reached out to him with an opportunity at the Tomball Emergency Assistance Ministries. After introductions and discussion, both Barry and the TEAM Board of Directors determined that this was a good fit. Barry has recently completed five years serving as TEAM’s executive director.
Born in Texas City and growing up in Houston, Barry graduated from Houston’s Memorial High School. He has a B.S. in Microbiology from Texas A&M University and an M.B.A. from the University of Houston’s Bauer College of Business. Barry’s career path includes 9 years as Campus Staff Member with InterVarsity Christian Fellowship, serving students at UT El Paso, New Mexico State University and Rice University. He also served for 21 years as a Director serving on the top management team of Fiesta Supermarkets.
Barry’s journey of faith began as a child growing up in the church. His faith became heart-felt as a teenager through Bible-focused Sunday School at Tallowood Baptist Church along with Biblical teaching at Memorial High School’s Young Life Club. During his college years, through exposure to Reformed theologians, Barry began to understand the Biblical principle that all of life is to be lived before the face of God. In the marketplace, in ministry or at home, he has sought to make this his life’s perspective.
Barry has served as a Board Member and President of the Sugar Creek Christian Home Educators; Ruling Elder of the Presbyterian Church in America start-up Christ Church Katy; and Adult Connect Group teacher at Sugar Creek Baptist Church in Sugar Land.
Father of three and grandfather of six, Barry and his bride of 42 years, Kathy, live in the Pecan Grove community of Richmond and are in the process of building a home in the Bridgeland community of Cypress.
